Jèmodj̼àr Se (/ˈʤɛmod/ /j̼ər/ [fruit] [crazy; insane]) is a temperate Town located in Iz̄omukhumu Dutchy, Niylili Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Jèmodj̼àr Se is derived from the Tauric language, as Jèmodj̼àr Se was founded by Shêbëd Fluellen Owen, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Jèmodj̼àr Se has a yearly average temperature of 21°C (69°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 15°C (59°F). Jèmodj̼àr Se receives an average of 241 cm/y (94 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Jèmodj̼àr Se covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1968 m (6456 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Jèmodj̼àr Se was founded durring the late 14th century in summer of the year 1351, by Shêbëd Fluellen Owen. The establishment of Jèmodj̼àr Se was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Shêbëd Fluellen Owen electing to pay people to resettle in Jèmodj̼àr Se.

Jèmodj̼àr Se was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Jèmodj̼àr Se is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature delicute timber framework hidden behind layer upon layer of finly ground plaster bleached to an almost glossy white sheen, with green clay tiled roofs and decorative brass-leafed trim. Even the smallest, poorest looking structures appear to be expencive thanks to the extreem elegence of the organic shapes and paterns going into their lofty, spire-y, vagly gothic designs. The more well off folks live in identicle homes, save for even shiner trim and a more whimsical appearance to their structures flowing forms.

Jèmodj̼àr Se is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of restrictive cobblestone streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The town resides behind a palisade wall complete with battlments, a moat, and timber gatehouses with drawbridges. The town's robustly designed timber walls have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

Jèmodj̼àr Se has a very calm atmosphere. People can be seen relaxing, scocilizing, and going about all manner of business other than the daily grind. Men, women, children, all can be seen enjoying life in a laid-back way in the many parks which line Jèmodj̼àr Se’s streets. In spite of this, quite a few people can be seen reading and the town has an abundance of libraries. It’s quite clear the community values education.

Civic Infrastructure

Jèmodj̼àr Se has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Jèmodj̼àr Se. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Jèmodj̼àr Se's parks.

Jèmodj̼àr Se has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Jèmodj̼àr Se's natural decorations nor waterways.

Cultural Notes

Jèmodj̼àr Se's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its functional shapes, abstract shapes used sparingly for decor, simple color schemes, holistic design, and basic industrial materials. Its simple designs were created to be beautiful, functional, and mass-producible. The style used little to no embellishment or ornamentation, instead drawing attention to the streamlined design, such as flat roofs to create a simple, geometric look. The simplicity masks the style's nearly sinister functionality, as every last feature is designed to guide the people living in the building in how to make the most efficient use of the structure.

Jèmodj̼àr Se is in secret rebellion against their ostensible liege, having cut deals with his enemies, plotted to betray him for their own gain, or bridled under his tyranny and sought a better lord. The community’s leadership is all in on this plot, and outside viceroys or representatives are being kept carefully ignorant of the reality. The common folk may be oblivious to the truth, though they’ll doubtless have felt the same motivations and promptings that convinced their leaders to turn traitor.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century the Kami blessed the town with good fortune for a year and a day. One of Jèmodj̼àr Se's local festivals commemorates this miracle.
